The Knapman-Smith family have made many wonderful contributions to CUE Haven over the years. They established Lisa’s Wish Grove and continue to help maintain it, and in 2021 made and installed beautiful carved timber signs for the roads, groves and walking tracks.
The family often visit during the Christmas and Easter holidays, but this festive season, almost everyone was busy with other plans. As a result, Ian decided to come on his own for a relaxing couple of days.
At least that’s what he told us.
It turned out that he single-handedly did a huge amount of work and we can’t thank him enough for tackling so many tasks.
He spent some time doing some clean up and weeding in Lisa’s Wish Grove.

He also checked out all of the walking tracks and did some trimming and cleaning up of fallen branches.

Here is the top walking track before:

And after:

He also worked on clearing away vegetation alongside the nursery.

The biggest project he tackled was finishing off a boardwalk that we had started to build on the Kohekohe track. It was technically and physically challenging because of the unusual shape and he also had to carry all the gear a long way.
The framework of the boardwalk had been installed, but it still needed nogs and top boards. Ian cut and installed the nogs.

He then cut and installed the top boards.

This summer we’ll finish off the boardwalk with wire mesh to provide traction for visitors when it’s wet.
A huge THANK YOU to Ian for his hard work. We really appreciate your friendship and your many generous contributions to CUE Haven over the years and your continued support. We very much look forward to having you back to CUE Haven again soon – for a relaxing visit!!

Thank You!! Thank You!!
