ANZ Business Development & Initiatives Group—5 April 2022

The slow relaxing of Covid restrictions has meant that we are starting to welcome volunteer groups back to CUE Haven and today we were delighted to have a team from ANZ’s corporate office out for a day.

The team arrived first thing in the morning and included Hayleigh, James, Mitch and Stephanie.  Also joining us for the day were Mahrukh’s sister, Zenobia and her husband Kersi who are visiting from Singapore.

Since most of the group were new to CUE Haven, over morning tea Mahrukh gave a talk about the history of the project and the CUE Haven philosophy and plans for the future. 

Thomas gave a safety briefing and explanation of the work planned for the day.

The plan for the day was to trim vegetation that had grown out over the roads and walking tracks.  Because we haven’t been able to have volunteers at CUE Haven for several weeks, there was a lot of trimming to do!

We headed out and Thomas and the team moved along the track, trimming overhanging branches.

In some places the vegetation was so thick the team needed to figure out exactly where the track was.

The team made good progress as they worked their way down various tracks.

The enthusiastic and hard working team exceeded our expectations and by lunchtime had cleared a huge section of the tracks.  We then headed back to the cottage for a well-deserved, leisurely lunch.

It was a fun and very productive day and we really enjoyed working with everyone and the many     interesting conversations we had.

A special thank you to Kirstie, for her continued support and for organizing the volunteer day. Unfortunately, Kirstie couldn’t join us today but we look forward to her coming out with her other ANZ colleagues soon. And a big thank you to Kersi and Zenobia for giving up a day of vacation to work with us!

Our many thanks to everyone for helping out today.  We really appreciated your enthusiasm and your hard work. You all have made a major contribution to CUE Haven and thanks to your efforts the tracks are looking better than ever.
