BNZ Volunteer Planting Days–September 28 and October 5, 2010

October 5, 2010

On  28 September and on 5 October CUE Haven hosted two groups of volunteers from the St. Lukes, Auckland branch of BNZ (Bank of New Zealand).

On September 28th we were joined by Kim, Shabnam, Dani, Alex and Raymond:

Also, on the 28th, our good friend Doug Bayer joined the group to set the pace for the rest of us!

The team on October 5th  included Rosali, Sa, Natalie, Kathy, Kelly, Mayurash and Roger.

The weather on both days was perfect and both groups of volunteers were energetic and enthusiastic and planted almost 500 trees in total.  All before lunch!

Mahrukh and I want to thank all of the volunteers.  Everyone did a great job and was a pleasure to work with and we hope that this will become an annual event.  We especially want to thank Kim and Rose, Manager and Assistant Manager, for arranging for staff to be away from the bank for the planting, and a big thanks to Natalie whose idea it was to get BNZ involved in the CUE Haven project.

This is the spirit that keeps our planet alive and gives us reason to hope for a better world. I’m sure every volunteer slept well that night and woke the next morning with renewed hope and purpose.
