Deloitte Good Thinking Team

You are reading this post on our new and improved web site thanks to a great group of young professionals from Deloitte’s Auckland office.  Deloitte is a multinational professional services firm and one of the Big 4 accounting firms. Deloitte NZ’s Good Thinking initiative provides their consultants with opportunities to volunteer their technical skillsets and contribute to the community in meaningful and impactful ways.

As part of the Good Thinking initiative, Deloitte Auckland office consulting cadets, Justyne, Lani, Melanie, Simran, Tiger and Viola proposed sponsoring a local school for an environmental education field trip to the CUE Haven nature reserve.

The cost of the bus and professional educators for these trips is often outside the reach of smaller rural schools, and the Deloitte team wanted to provide students with not only a memorable experience but also a message of care and community support.

The team’s proposal was selected by a panel of judges and Parakai School in northwest Auckland was selected to have a unique environmental education day at CUE Haven.  On 2nd November, year 5-6 students from Parakai school came out to CUE Haven and learned about sustainable living, water quality testing and native fish and macroinvertebrates, native NZ birds, trees and pest control to protect native habitats.  You can read about their visit here. https://cuehaven.com/2023/12/08/parakai-school-2-november-2023-2/

The Deloitte cadet team also offered their expertise to upgrade the CUE Haven website, something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  The original site was set up in 2010 with no substantive changes made to the format since then.

We worked with the Deloitte cadets to share our thoughts on the objectives of the site, what information we wanted to convey and how to convey it. We also wanted the site to be easy for novices like us to update and maintain.

Once we agreed on the concept, the team undertook the challenging task of moving all of our content to a new test site.  They also prepared a series of instructional videos to help us learn how to work with the new site and maintain it.

We are truly grateful to the team for all their efforts and their help with the CUE Haven website project. They listened to our concerns and were incredibly responsive, even though they already had full project schedules as part of their regular assignments. And extra thanks to Justyne and Lani for the very helpful instructional videos and promptly responding and resolving all our queries.

We are still learning the intricacies of the new website, so CUE Haven supporters do bear with us. And blame us for any glitches and not the Deloitte team!!

A big thank you to Deloitte NZ for their Good Thinking program and giving their staff the opportunity to make valued contributions to the community.

And many thanks again Justyne, Lani, Melanie, Simran, Tiger and Viola and a special thank you to Tiger for championing CUE Haven at Deloitte.  We have really enjoyed working with you all and truly appreciate all your efforts and help. We wish you all the best as you launch your careers and look forward to keeping in touch and do hope you will continue to be involved with CUE Haven over the years.

Thank You!! Thank You!!
